Whatsapp Aiming at $1 Billion from India Next Year

MUMBAI: Whatsapp is one of the costliest accusations by the technology giant Meta and it has gained huge success in terms of users. And now the brand is looking at a turnover of $1 Billion in India in the coming financial year.

Meta is now looking at profits beyond its traditional methods as a digital marketing platform. To that end the messaging platform is now being upgraded to a business platform. Not only can people send money online via Whatsapp, but also manage sales and showcase products on this messaging platform. And thus work towards proper monetization of this platform.

The parent brand is now facing declines in its revenues for the first time since its inception. The reason is being said to be the decline in online advertising trends. This is the main source of revenue for both its Facebook and Instagram platforms.

The huge number of active users across the country makes India the biggest market for Whatsapp. As of now the number of active users has been reported at 400 million.

As per reports they are roping in various organizations across the country to deliver their messages to the customers. This has enabled the company to generate profits via the Whatsapp Business platform. On one side the brands are happy over more reachability and penetration of the customers, while the customers are unhappy over the number of promotional messages over the messaging platform

Meta head Mark Zuckerberg mentioned business messaging as a "major monetization opportunity". It is also going to be one of the three primary areas where the company wishes to grow in the coming year.

The brand currently charges Rs 0.29 for 'user-initiated' conversations and Rs 0.48 for 'business-initiated' conversations. The first 1,000 conversations will be free for businesses every month. Under the terms, a conversation means unlimited interactions in 24 hours.

The brand wants to reach goal by increasing corporate tie ups across the country.
